ACA Rebranding Campaign

The acadia community association’s new logo and brand is here!

In early 2023, the ACA kicked off community engagement to collect feedback on what the association’s brand should be. We wanted to make sure that the ACA represented our members and our community at large. After collecting the information, we launched a logo design contest and received four designs that we presented to our membership at the AGM to vote on.

Based on heavy majority vote, we’re happy to announce that our new logo and colours are now finalized!

Over the next few months, we will be applying the new colour theme and new logo to our websites, social media, documents, merchandise, etc.

In the meantime, feel free to read about our entire rebranding process below!

The acadia community association is rebranding and we want your input!

Last year, we underwent a rebrand and presented a new logo for our membership to vote on at the 2022 AGM. The one key element we missed in the process was engaging you, our valued membership and community, in the exploration of what a brand that represents you would look like.

After discussion among the current ACA board, we have decided that the right thing to do would be to start again and this time, ensure that we fully engage our community in the design process. Our new brand identity will be determined by you and we believe that it will help us better connect with our membership and the overall community of Acadia.

Step 1: Community survey (closed)

We asked Acadians to share their opinions on what a logo that represents them would incorporate. Five survey responses were randomly selected to receive a prize of one-year free ACA membership and a $25 gift card to a local Acadia-area business!

Thank you for everyone’s valuable feedback. The results from the survey will inform us on the design parameters for the ACA logo design!

Step 2: ACA Logo Design Contest (CLOSED)

The results we received from the branding survey in Step 1 has informed us on the design parameters for the ACA logo design and overall branding package! Since our logo and brand are meant to represent you, we’re inviting people to submit designs that a panel will vote on. Contest officially opens May 2, 2023 and will run until July 15, 2023!

Official Contest Guidelines

  • You can take part in the contest if you are a creative individual who wants to be part of designing an amazing logo for a great community!

    The contest is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc.

    Contestants are permitted to work in groups; however, only one (1) prize will be awarded regardless of group size.

  • A panel consisting of the current 2023 ACA Board Members and select Lifetime/Charter members will shortlist 4 proposals. Shortlisted applicants will be informed by August 15, 2023.

    The ACA Membership will then vote to select the winning logo at the September 2023 Annual General Meeting. The winner of the contest will be informed no later than September 30, 2023.

    The winning entrant will be awarded a prize value of $100, plus some “I Heart Acadia” swag.

    If no logos meet the content or quality requirements, or no consensus can be reached, the ACA reserves the right not to select a logo and to not award a prize.

  • The new ACA logo should:

    • represent Acadia as being a very welcoming community that is safe, vibrant and inclusive. Acadia is a community that is in transition, honouring the past as well as looking to the future.

    • include “Acadia Community Association” written out in full;

    • incorporate the following elements in some way:

      • trees

      • an inclusive and diverse family/community

      • bungalow(s);

    • use the colours blue, green and yellow. The addition of white and/or light grey may be used;

    • be flexible enough to use in multiple sizes and formats across different digital and print media;

    • be easy to resize and adapt. We prefer a horizontal logo layout with dimensions that are adapted for website banners and headers. If you wish to submit a vertical logo, you should also submit a horizontal adaptation of the logo;

    • be adaptable for use in grayscale and on light and dark backgrounds.

      Proposals can be submitted digitally in scalable vector format PSD or AI and JPG/JPEG or PNG format.

      Hand-sketched submissions will be accepted. If shortlisted, hand-sketched submissions will be converted to the required digital formats by the ACA for final presentation.

      Sending in a branded colour palette is optional at this stage of the contest. Should you wish to do so, please indicate 2 -3 main colours and up to 4 support colours, in addition to white and black, with colour values in CMYK, RGB and HEX.

  • You may only submit a logo that is your original work and is not derivative in nature (including from your own work). Your submission can’t violate the intellectual property rights of another individual or entity.

    You must unconditionally and irrevocably agree that every part of your submission, should it win, becomes the exclusive property of the ACA and can be used for any ACA activities in any medium, by the ACA and projects related to the ACA.

    The ACA retains the right to modify a submission.

  • Each eligible individual or group of individuals can submit a max. of 3 proposals until July 15, 2023, 23:59 MST by sending to branding@acadiaca.com or in person drop off at the Acadia Recreation Complex (240 90 Ave SE).
